HILTON HEAD ISLAND

One of the most popular resort areas in Eastern America, Hilton Head has come a long way since its discoverer William Hilton advertised for settlers in 17th-century London papers. Not connected to the mainland until 1956, the 12-mile-long island boomed when the bridge was built. Hilton Head offers championship golf tennis, 12 miles of wide, sandy beaches, marinas, nature preserves and the same "pleasant ayr" Hilton touted in his ads. Harbour Town, on Hilton Head Island, offers a captivating choice of shops, fine restaurants, atmosphere and scenic beauty.

The name Hilton Head is synonymous with golf. For decades this has been where snow birds have flocked for balmy golf weather year-round. The island hosts the Celebrity Golf Tournament every Labor Day weekend and a collegiate invitational in late fall.
Hilton Head Island, site of the Family Circle Magazine Cup tournament, makes tennis  a big attraction with more courts than any resort its size in America.
Coastal Discovery, the Museum on Hilton Head Island. The museum hosts a variety of historic and environmental tours and beach walks and features the new dream stop butterfly gardens.

MYRTLE BEACH

Myrtle Beach is the sun and fun capital of the Grand Strand that beckons millions to the semi-tropical paradise that's a golfer's dream, a fisherman's delight, a family vacation heaven and tennis buff's fantasy. Natural beauty, a climate with distinct but mild and pleasant seasons, and a variety of activities, almost as limitless as the seashells, have made the Grand Strand the choice vacation and retirement spot for generations of Carolinians, along with a swelling tide of national and international tourists.

Myrtle Beach

 Greetings from Myrtle Beach!
Long noted as the Riviera of the South.

The fine white sand and dunes of the beaches along the Strand make for the best in swimming, sunbathing, strolling, shelling and surfing. The big thrill, voted near the top by all, is food. Miles of restaurants offer heavenly smells and the best in seafood of the day, if not the very hour. The after-dinner fun begins when Myrtle Beach lights up its Pavilion, as the infinite sky lights the moon and stars. When the sun goes down, the stars step out - on Myrtle Beach's many stages.

CHARLESTON, S.C.

And then there is Charleston. Her charm and beauty have long proven to be irrestible. You'll see it in the lacy trim of her breezy piazzas. And feel it in the spirit of her rich heritage. A port city steeped in history. Barely changed since its founding in 1670. Here you'll find the very best of the South. A genteel nature, so inviting. So gracious. And an indomitable strength that has proudly withstood great fires, earthquakes, pirates, a civil war and hurricanes with little more than a bat of an eye.

Charleston

 AMERICA'S MOST HISTORICAL CITY
Charleston, S.C.

Charles Town, as it was originally called, was settled in 1670 where the Asley and Cooper Rivers meet to form the Atlantic Ocean. It is most famous for its well preserved 18th century architecture, historical forts, gardens, and seaport facilities.
By horse-drawn carriage, air-conditioned bus, boat, bicycle or on foot, a tour of Charleston is a remarkable journey through time.
